Do you ever have one of those split second moments when you see (a) complete stranger(s) doing something that puts you into a good mood for the rest of the day?
Yesterday I was walking down an aisle at CVS and a guy about my age zipped past me in an electric wheelchair. Then, a moment later as I was walking the other way (trying to find the damn lightbulb aisle in a very disorganized CVS…), he zipped past me again, headed for the cash register.
His only item intended for purchase?
A big bright box of Trojan condoms. It looked like the economy pack… I couldn’t tell, he was going so fast it was a bit of a blur.
I don’t know why that struck me as any sort of great triumph. As a HUSX minor in college, I am well aware that people with disabilities usually manage to have fairly normal sex lives. I suppose it’s because he had his chair in fifth gear, booking it out of there like he had someone waiting in the car or something. It made my day.
that is HILARIOUS! i think i just snorted water out of my nose. i can just picture him zipping by towards the check-out.
