Today I bought this. Read about it! I have barely worn makeup lately (maybe twice a week), but went for it partially to express the fact that I support the idea (much like when I bought the Dixie Chicks’ new CD the week it came out, despite the fact that I had never listened to them before, simply to demonstrate my support of them amidst all the CRAP they got for expressing their opinions… and I ended up LOVING the CD).
Nothing like rationalizing the purchase of a $20 tube of lipstick. I mean come on. Part of it goes to charity for sick kids, it’s biodegradable, and the packaging is intended to be stuck in the ground so that a plant will grow and create oxygen for our raped-and-pillaged world.
Mwuah!
This purchase was my last hurrah with an old friend: Visa. Yup. This morning I decided to CUT IT UP. I can get by without it, I think (I do, of course though, have a mastercard in the back of a desk drawer for use in emergencies such as car repairs, last minute shower/wedding/baby gifts, plane tickets, etc.). If I want to live out my fantasy of homeownership by 30, I need to keep cracking down on my spending. I have been doing increasingly better, but hope that the inability to whip out my credit card to impulse-buy $100 shoes or offer to buy a round of drinks will keep the trend going in a good direction.
