I just finished reading a fantastic book called Prep. It is beautifully written in a way that accurately captures the minute observations of a midwestern girl at an east coast prep school that she ended up attending almost by accident. It made me alternately feel warm and fuzzy, contemplative, and nostalgic (I went to public school, but isn’t teen angst pretty much the same everywhere?). It even inspired me to check on my high school alumni page to see where some of my old classmates ended up.
No further reviewing from me — just that it is a very funny, touching, honest book that is definitely worth the time to read.
The author, Curtis Sittenfeld, published another book about a year after this one… I think she is now on my list of authors that I BUY her books as they come out rather than just getting them at the library. I think I am going to head to a bookstore later today to get the new one.
